It’s obvious when you have attended mega shows at MUMBAI FILM FESTIVAL when it was all about Cinema vibes. Weather its seeing French film “The Artists” with Legendary Yash Chopra and cinema was filled many other vetern makers or Grand launch at Opera House or Some lovely films unlike CHUMBAK – “No college students to show BHEED 🤣” .Previously when was organised by Vetern Writers and Makers AMIT KHANNA sir and team ; MAMI gave a complete vibes where CINEMA was discussed. – By Priyanka Raina
Was invited to view screening of HAJAMAT ; which ofcoarse makers must have paid Lacs to get a platform at MAMI ( Money mint by JIO) . HAJAMAT no doubt is a good film; A new concept but Where’s audience?
I reached JIO MAMI around 11 am when the screening was getting over.They told we will be conducting second screening too after Press conference. When press meet was over; I asked “When’s the screening ” . They told; We would love too; but only for one person seems a bit Chayos when who screen is empty. I went out to take coffee; after about 40 mins ; called “Mam please come ; we are started screening ” . When I went inside; was shocked to see…. The cinema was filled with COLLEGE BMM students just to show “BHEED” so they can indicate “HOUSEFULL” in pictures!
But is this CINEMA?
Sorry to say would be my last MAMI to attend; and if you want me – send me special invites or Online Screeners as mentioned by DEEPA GAHLOT Too
Please give MAMI back to Filmmakers and remove this PR system from festival which is making it a complete Flop Show .
Previously when was attending all ten days ; and that wasn’t enough too with “Cinema” talks. Now just three hours in a day were guessed enough- No talks; No meets.
