When ever movie is based on social issues , its obvious Movie will reflect certain positive and negative feedback as well. But if the Movie is on 377 Act ,can turn an Eye opener for many of us who think that these people are not part of society. Earlier Films like Dunno Y Naa jaane Kyon featauring Kapil Sharma & Yuvraaj Parashar , which first movie to based on 377 Act did not fare well, because that time people were not ready to accept the sensitvity And lets see how Hansal Mehta manages with Aligarh to convey his Audience.
Film Aligarh portrays on the life of 64 year old Marathi Professor SIRAS (Manoj Bajpyee) who was about to retire from Aligarh University in just three months, and was harassed by Politics caused by Aligarh University by shooting video of him sleeping with Richkshaw Driver Irfan saying that He is Gay.
On this An Intern Reporter from Times TodayDeepu Sebastian (Rajkumar Rao) from Dilli looked at other side of story and went into depth of it. At that time He planned his journey from DILLI to Aligarh to go into depth of it for writing. Also felt sorry on cheapness of University and raised topic that “What right has someone to enter in their private lives”
But till the Time Section 377 came under power and supported the cause of Professor Siras, and Case went till court where we saw the real phase of University. Brilliant Performances by Lawyer Anand Grover (Ashish Vidyarthi) who played Lawyer of 377 section.
Also , Manoj Bajpayee is huge Fan of Lata Mangeshkar in movie and often listens to old songs on his Tap-recorder. Some Moments in the film, which will really touch your inner soul and will force you to think about particular character
Characters Graph : One can’t just describe Acting skills of Versatile Actors Manoj Bajpai, Ashish Vidyarthi , They are just beyond it. RajKumar Rao was good enough in his convincing power as a journalist.
Direction : Hansal Mehta delivers a well researched story that stars on 8th feb 2010, with certain parts in between for Court’s date and Ends on 15th April 2010 with a valuable message.
Screenplay By Apurva Asrani was totally taken a back, especially old songs by Lata Mangeshkar which were well pictured to show Fan Moment of Manoj Bajpayee. Also definition of LOVE was well described in proverb “Its a Beautiful World”
Review :Aligarh can be defined as a Masterpiece which is Beyond 377, Apart its conveys so many messages. What right someone has to peep in someone’s window, Also Disrespect to Senior Citizens which is totally unethical.
Aligarh is a Must watch film for Everyone to change everyone’s perspective of peeping into someone’s Privacy. My ratings – 3.5 – 4 Stars to Film
National award winning director Hansal Mehta has wooed international film lovers with his sensitive film ‘Aligarh’. At its trailer launch here in Mumbai, it’s focus on awakening awareness for an individual’s choice and right to privacy connected with the media & the audience.
With the film’s cast & crew, lead actor Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao & writer-editor Apurva Asrani, attending the trailer launch, the impact of ‘Aligarh’ was there for all to see. Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh from which the film takes its name, ‘Aligarh’ is the story of a professor, Dr. S R Siras (Manoj Bajpayee) fired from his position for his sexuality and a young journalist, Deepu Sebastian (Rajkummar Rao) who tells his story to the world. Based on true events, the film depicts the unlikely friendship between the two, a relationship that will change both of them forever.
So far, ‘Aligarh’, within a relevant context of intolerance & compromise with an individual’s freedom of personal choice raging across urban India, has won accolades in film festivals worldwide. It was only the second Hindi film in 17 years to open the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in October, 2015. The film has also travelled to the prestigious Busan International Film Festival for its World premiere & the 59th BFI London Film Festival.
Also Director Hansal Mehta was little Disappointed that he actually made fun of Homosexuals in 2008 in Dostana, and showed ALIGARH to Karan Johar. It actually changed the mind of Karan Johar and he appreciated the pains they have taken.
Also , We Spoke to Kapil Sharma (Younger Brother of Director Anil Sharma) whose film “DunnoY2 Life is a Moment” came last year on same issue and faced the same circumstances
Kapil Sharma Replied , “Though initially in first screening, our film was refused a certificate. But we were lucky with the revising committee. They passed quite a few bold shots. Also they allowed first gay wedding on celluloid.”
And when asked about Moral policing, should Censor limit its conditions, as Manoj Bajpai said we should not have only censor limitations.
Kapil Sharma replied, “Censorship should be there. But there should be no deletions of shots. It should be grading of the film.”
Recalling the ‘Aligarh’ journey so far, Mehta said, “The overwhelming reception to ‘Aligarh’ at film festivals tells us that we’ve done something right! With its trailer now available online, we want Indian audiences to see, first hand, the impact of social exclusion. Film is a powerful medium & the story of ‘Aligarh’ needs to be told. That we have been appreciated at MAMI, Busan & BFI makes me very grateful & rewards the whole team’s tenacity. We hope the film will find its audience here in India too.”
Producer Sunil Lulla of Eros International said, “Aligarh is a special and significant film that resonates with present times. Eros is proud to commence the year with the release of a milestone film like Aligarh that should encourage a much-needed conversation around denial of fundamental rights.”
One more Thing, How can be a Trailer be given a A certificate. There are several videos on You Tube which contains Sexual things & are being given permissions easily.
